They Robbed ₹5.7 Lakh in Delhi, Inspired by Bollywood Movie “Special 26”
Robbers posing as Mumbai Police officers looted lakhs of rupees from a Delhi firm last week. Seven people, including two women, who were arrested in this connection, claimed they were inspired by the Bollywood movie ‘Special 26’, police said.
One of the accused was Sanjay Manocha, chairman of Nuh Municipal Council in Haryana, who had contested with the support of BJP and Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), sources said.
According to Usha Rangarani, DCP, North West Delhi, the robbery happened at a wellness firm run by Vijay Yadav in Netaji Subhas Place last Wednesday.
Around 12:30 PM, four people—including a woman—showed up at his office and introduced themselves as Mumbai Police officials, Mr. Yadav reported to the police. They were wearing what appeared to be Mumbai Police identity cards.
According to the police, they took the employees’ mobile phones and made a 20 lakh rupee demand. At the point of a gun, the complainant was asked to call his wife and arrange the payment. His wife somehow arranged ₹ 5.75 lakh and handed it over to one of the accused, a woman, waiting outside his office.

They also collected his bank and card details from him, police said.
The staff was locked inside the office for five hours before the robbers left with the cash, mobile phones, and other items.
Using CCTV footage, the police arrested one of the suspects after identifying him as Prashant Kumar Patil of Libaspur. When interrogated, he admitted that two women and five men were also involved in the crime, and ₹2.5 lakh was recovered from him.
He provided information that led to the arrest of Jyoti and Neha Kashyap, two Delhi residents. Four more people were later arrested from separate locations in Madhya Pradesh and Haryana: Zahid alias Guru Ji, Sanjay Manocha, Faisal, and Imran. Another accused, Majid, is on the run.
The accused admitted during interrogation that they were inspired by the ‘Special 26’ movie to plan the robbery. Zahid and Prashant were the key conspirators of the robbery, police said, adding that a search is on for Majid.
